500 words is just the start

The Spider King's Daughter, by Chibundu OnuzoYesterday a lovely and very professional BBC crew came and used Westminster Reference Library as the backdrop to an interview between TV presenter and journalist Matt Allwright (of BBC Rogue Traders) and author Chibundu Onuzo.

They talked about her writing her first novel, The Spider King’s Daughter, at just 17 years of age, and about the new BBC 500 Words 2013 competition for writers aged 13 and under.

Chibundu’s interview should be broadcast tonight – Friday 25 January – on the One Show (BBC1, 7.00pm). We’re very pleased to say that she’s also agreed to come back and visit us at a later date (hopefully on National Libraries Day!) to talk about her experience of writing a book at such a young age, so watch this space for details.
