Thursday 19 July saw the launch of the Summer Reading Challenge in Westminster: Story Lab. To help us celebrate, Freshwater Theatre visited Church Street Library to deliver a special Summer Reading Challenge themed event.
Lots of local children had fun taking part in an interactive drama session, ‘Save our stories!’ where they time-travelled to the future to see if stories still existed, and brought back their love of books and story characters.
We were joined by the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Warner, who opened the event and helped us to launch the Challenge.
Jackie Clauzel (pictured above with her two daughters, Kyah, aged 9 and Jada, aged 4, and neice, Rachel Gayle-Harvey, aged 9) told us
“The Summer Reading Challenge is excellent; we look forward to it coming back each year. The girls find the mix of reading and questions exciting and they are encouraged to read lots of books so that they can receive rewards and prizes.
There are really great events taking place to occupy the children over the summer and the leaflets help us to know what’s going on where and when.”
It’s been a great first week, with an amazing 21 events across all Westminster libraries so far. If your children haven’t joined up yet there are still loads of events to be enjoyed and books to be read!
