Carers Week at Church Street Library

Church Street Library has been enjoying regular monthly health events – ‘Well Wednesdays’ – and in June the focus was on Westminster carers during Carers Week, which ran from the 18th to the 24th.

Team members from the Queen’s Park-based Westminster Carers Network came to Church Street Library with lots of goodies in the form of healthy snacks – the Westminster Libraries Health Information Project added to this with strawberries, grapes, juice and spring water.

The Munro Health Co-operative sent three alternative therapists to give free massage, acupuncture and cranio-sacral treatments to those who attended the event.

Health Trainers, funded by the NHS, promoted their one to one motivational health improvement programme and Marian from the NHS health Improvement team had a stall at the entrance to the library with yummy healthy recipes and healthy eating tips. Sarah from the Penfold hub had a large rack of leaflets bursting with information on activities for older residents. Kate, the library Health Information worker, and volunteer Molly handed out a healthy eating quiz – the prizes for the quiz were donated by Sainsbury’s Supermarket Ladbroke Grove branch and included a facial pampering kit, cosmetics and colourful pot plants.

The great team at Church Street Library helped to make the ‘Carers Special’ another successful and enjoyable Well Wednesday event.
