Promoting the 24/7 Library at Pimlico Library was a shocking affair. Rest assured, dear blogger – nothing untoward occurred. It was a nice shock.
Compared with a year ago, a pleasingly-high percentage of people refused one of my flyers because they already knew about and used the library’s online services. We know it must be true – the stats bear witness – but it still gave me a boost to be told by Pimlico library-users of all kinds and conditions that they reserved and renewed their stuff online, used the online reference resources, were familiar with the mobile app and had signed up for online training courses.
Of course, other people were surprised at what I was offering them free or almost-free, so my mesmeric powers of persuasion were not entirely wasted!
