Here at the Archives Centre we are shaping up to join in the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee celebrations. With a fantastic selection of visual images we recapture some of the momentous occasions in HM The Queen’s life, including her marriage, coronation and royal engagements. We also take a look back at royal tradition and heritage from Queen Victoria to King George VI.

Original items on display include a Britains Historical Series 1953 coronation carriage and souvenir programmes for royal occasions.

The exhibition is on show in the Archives Centre meeting room as follows:

30 May – 9 June 2012

Wednesdays and Thursdays 10.00am – 7.00pm
Fridays and Saturdays 10.00am – 5.00pm
Closed Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays

The exhibition is a wonderful accompaniment to the City’s celebrations and gives viewers an opportunity to see how we celebrate our royal family at local and national level.

  2. Hello
Fabulous pictures. I am in Canada so a tad far to pop in.. May I ask if there are any more scans of the photographs….to view online. I would be truly grateful if anyone is able to do that.

    All the best

  3. Yes Donna, the pictures are evocative aren’t they!. You can see a larger selection of images of Londoners celebrating royal jubilees and coronations via the Westminster City Archives online catalogue (http://www.calmview.eu/Westminster/CalmView/advanced.aspx?src=DServe.Catalog) – in the “Any Text” field, enter some keywords (such as “street party” or “Queen Elizabeth II”) and then choose “Photographs and Prints” from the category field.
