Take a bow

Young violinists from London Music Master’s Bridge to the Community Project gave a fabulous performance of their favourite tunes in this special concert for a group of children from Eaton Square Nursery School. It soon turned into an audience participation event when one of their favourite tunes turned out to be Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

The Bridge Project at Westminster Music Library, April 2012

These talented children have only been playing together for just over a year and are well on their way to stardom. The Bridge Project is a unique educational initiative which identifies and nurtures young children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage in classical music.

After the performance, our budding musicians learnt about some famous composers, had a look at some of the music they’d written for the violin, then took part in a competition to find a book from the Music Library shelves about one of our featured famous names. The winner then told us some interesting facts they had discovered:

Beethoven was a grumpy old man who shouted a lot, Mozart composed an opera at the dinner table, Bach had lots of children and is not related to Bart….er – Simpson?

Johann Sebastian Bart Simpson?
