Author and journalist Matthew Sweet visited Mayfair Library recently, and spoke very entertainingly at about the strange and exotic residents of London hotels during the Second World War.
We learnt of glamorous spies, dangerous women, drunken exploits, odd royal births and sad lonely deaths.
Matthew signed books and talked to some of the forty-one people who attended this event.
Dip into his book The West End Front: The wartime secrets of London’s grand hotels if you want tales of the great, the good and the dangerous.
