St John’s Wood Library is running a very successful teenagers’ creative writing group with pupils from a local secondary school. The sessions are hosted by Ola Laniyan-Amoako, author and founder of Urbantopia Books. Ola’s passion for embracing diversity is reflected in her engagement with the teenagers who have learnt to respect each other’s voices and support creativity.
The group meets fortnightly, and during these lively sessions they have the opportunity to write their own pieces of work collectively or individually which they then read to the group. These youngsters have shown amazing talent, proving that with a little guidance and the right opportunity anyone can unleash their creativity and find the writer within. Thanks goes to the councillors of Abbey Road Ward who have funded this project.
