International relations

The Malaysian delegation outside Paddington LibraryStaff from the Ministry of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing, Malaysia, recently visited Paddington Library to discuss community engagement, social inclusion and library services to young people and children.

The visit was arranged through the Malaysian High Commission, London, and the delegation consisted of library staff and representatives of other areas of local government in Kuala Lumpur.

Stephanie and I gave a joint presentation to the group and explained what Paddington Library in particular and Westminster Libraries in general are doing in the above fields. There were a lot of shared issues and tasks which local government and library authorities face despite working in very different cultures with different histories.
