The Great Race

'The Great Race' puppet show at Victoria LibraryVictoria Library hosted a special Puppet Show in celebration of two events last week: National Storytelling Week and Chinese New Year.

We performed three ‘plays’: ‘Billy Goat’s Gruff’, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘The Great Race’ (which explains the story of the Chinese Calendar) with our puppets, to a room full of children and quite a few accompanying adults.  It went down extremely well with lots of praise and compliments to the puppeteers Nicholas and Andrew and the narrator (me!).

We had also put on a display of the Chinese Calendar and its 12 animals, with a take home card representing the characteristics of the person born within that year. The children also took home a fortune cookie courtesy of the library manager.

Look out for lots more special children’s activities in Westminster Libraries during the forthcoming half-term holiday. Keep up with what’s happening by adding the News & events page to your favourites.
