How to be a good wife

How to be a good wife, by Emma ChapmanSt John’s Wood Library was very honoured to host an evening with the author Emma Chapman, who presented her debut novel How To Be a Good Wife to a full house last week.

Thanks to funding received by Abbey Road and Regent’s Park wards and recommendations from the The Reading Agency, we have been able to invite authors to promote their recently published novels, purchase copies hot off the press and offer light refreshments.

While nowadays a library has many virtual offerings and has expanded its ‘walls’, there is always a festive atmosphere when an author and her public can interact in person. Ms Chapman introduced her book with a very short reading and took questions for the rest of the time. The conversation between the author and the audience continued over wine, kindly provided by our local wine shop Spirited Wines, and tasty nibbles, some of which were made by one of the loyal reading group members. Thank you, Roba!

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, by Rachel JoyceThe series continues in February with Rachel Joyce’s visit to discuss her Booker longlisted novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Join us on Monday 11 February 2013.
